Ever imagine what it would be like to walk into a guitar shop in 1969, try out 10 fuzz pedals and pick out the best ones. Heres your chance to own what is essentially a vintage pedal but made in 2024.

The Gold Bar is built around some very special transistors I got my hands on that blew my mind. They have all the best aspects of vintage devices rolled up into little pearls of tone.

In addition the Gold Bar uses Allen Bradley carbon composition resistors, and NOS high voltage capacitors from Philips, Sprague, etc. Shielded input and output wire for low noise and all parts are tested for quality.

There are three controls, the standard Level (output volume) and Fuzz (gain) knobs and the addition of a “Range” knob which serves two functions. The first adds input resistance which is like a more subtle guitar volume knob. This cuts bass and adds a sparkly high end to the tone. On the other end of the knob is a bright cap which gives the Gold Bar a Range Master tone.

Since the Range knob brightens up the tone, and the Fuzz knob rolls off high end, you have a lot of control over EQ. You can set the Range knob for a Treble booster sound and then roll of some of the spiky high end with the Fuzz knob. This is the Brian May sound!

Another feature is a toggle switch which adds a third gain stage which boosts volume and gain and gets you into Tone Bender territory. This stage uses a high gain BC109 transistor and is biased to give you a noise gate of sorts.

There is an internal thumb trimmer to set bias. The bias is factory set to get you that good clean up with the guitar volume but if you like that mis-biased fizzy sort of fuzz that is available as well.

The Gold bar can be powered by a battery or 9v center negative power supply. Upon request I can wire the pedal for either strictly battery or jack power which will reduce internal routing.
